Dyscalculia is a learning disability that affects approximately 10% of the population-- roughly 5 million school age children in 2021-- inhibiting their ability to learn, remember, and recall mathematical information (Butterworth, 2005).

Matching games can help children code numbers, word form, and quantity. Sorting objects and describing their differences and similarities (by number of objects, color, or shape) helps students develop cardinality (Gebuis & Van Der Smagt, 2011).

Neurotypical students reach the half-fraction advantage by 5th grade, while students with the math learning disability reach it in 7th grade (Mazzocco, et al., 2013).
